Morgadinhos de Amêndoa (almond cake)
Morgadinhos de Amêndoa in a tipical dessert from Algarve, and very known as well. Morgadinhos de Amendoa together with Dom Rodrigos are probably the most caracteristic desserts from Algarve. It's name comes from the name of the nobility lands, back in monarchy times. The little cakes are made of almond and its an excelent dessert. This is how you can make them yourself:
- 500g of Marzipan or almond dough
- 1/2 teacup of solf eggs ("ovos moles", made of egg yolks and sugar)
- 1/2 teacup of sweet egg ("doce de ovos")
- food colouring to taste
Split the marzipan in portions. In other bowl mixture the solf eggs with the sweet eggs.
With the cream you got, fill the portions of marzipan. Give it a shape of anything you want.
Paint them with the colouring.
Queijinhos de Amêndoa (almond cake)
