Sagres Honey Cake
Bolo de Mel à Moda de Sagres means Sagres Honey Cake. This is a type of cake you might find in all Algarve, although it's typical from a specific area of Algarve, Sagres. This is how you do a honey cake Sagres style:
- 245g sugar
- 300g wheat flour
- 8 eggs
- 1,5 dl oil
- 1/4 l honey
- 10g bake powder
Beat the eggs with the sugar, in some recipient, until it very beaten.
In a pot put the oil and the honey, and put it in the heat, just to warm the mixture. Then, let is cool and join the sugar - egg mixture. Put in the flour and the powder, and in the end, the egg whites.
Put the whole thing in a tray anointed with butter and powdered with the flour. Take it in the oven and let it cook for about 1h30minutes, 2hours. Then, let it cool, and cut it into cubes. Decorate it, as you like.
Queijinhos de Amêndoa (almond cake)
